What does the gpiod process (daemon) do?

When you get the message "Re-launch process [xxx]", it means the process is in abnormal status, and system monitor re-launch it.

This happen for me now since 5 days in a row afer every restart of the NAS.
There was nothing changed before which could have triggered this bevaiour. Do I need to worry now?
