Network Bridge - Unknown symbol when trying to activate mod

Post by copart »

Hi,

I have a TS-439 Pro II+ which has the Intel cpu.

I found the the bridge module is already compiled in the stock firmware located at /usr/local/modules/bridge.ko, however, I am having trouble enabling it.

# insmod /usr/local/modules/bridge.ko
insmod: cannot insert `/usr/local/modules/bridge.ko': Unknown symbol in module (-1): No such file or directory

# dmesg
bridge: Unknown symbol stp_proto_register
bridge: Unknown symbol stp_proto_unregister

Any ideas?

Hi,
you have to load stp module first.

I wrote a how-to on my blog, http://orion195.muppetslab.org - the last article.

I hope that this would help you :)

IPv6 must be enabled for this to work ...
otherwise you get an error on the insmod bridge.ko

Can you try "modprobe bridge" ? it should take care of dependencies
experience with administration of UN*X (mostly linux) and applications on internet servers since 1994...
