Unable to mount via AFP but SMB is OK. Why?

Post by James »

I am somewhat new to MacOS X and I understand TS-209 supports AFP to mount drives.

I have enable the Apple talk protocol in the Admin page. But I just could not mount the drive via afp:\\mynas\myhdd. What happens is that a user ID and password challenge appear and even though I enter it correctly, it will not mount the drive.

On the other hand, I could do this using smb:\\mynas\myhdd and the same user ID and password challenge will appear. After keyin correctly, the mount will completed successfully.

Appreciate any advise how I could use the afp?

Cheers

Hi James,

Please use afp:\\xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx\myhdd to mount it.
We are sorry for the inconvenient.
Mount it with server name will be fixed soon.
I am Kent. Nice to meet you!

strange indeed. but thanks for the solution. maybe for your information.

on 10.4.10 it works with afp but with 10.5 (latest beta (before go to the rtm) it doesnt work. i guess it has something to do that 10.4.10 doesnt encode the password en 10.5 does.
