BT downloads CRC Problems

Post by Deathstar »

Hi together,

if I download a bittorrent file which is splitted up into 15MB parts then there're always corrupt parts of it (WinRAR says CRC error on part xxx).

How to fix that?

Hi!

When I face this problem I usually delete the torrent (keeping the files, though) and add the torrent again. The torrent client then checks what's downloaded and downloads the missing parts. Sometimes I have to do this several times. It's kind of annoying since if it's a big torrent the checking part takes quite some time.

I do the same thing. This must be a bug?

Yep, this must be considered a bug. The worst thing isn't CRC-problem on RAR-archives since they are caught in the extracting process. The real problem is with files that can work even though some bits might be wrong and doesn't have any CRC-check like MP3 files and such. :(

Same problem here, about half my rar-torrents are buggy (and the rest non-rar are probably also broken without my knowledge).

Since the nice download station was one of my primary buying motivations, I am extremely unhappy now :(

Until this is fixed, I strongly advice against buying this product.

I have the same problem - a lot of .rar files says: "unexpected end of archive" even though BT client says download is finished.

That s*cks when a torrent download consist of 90 .rar files and 5 of them have errors.

Have just checked 3 finished torrents, all have error in .rar files.

Yes, it really bites :(

Well, let's all be good internet citizens.. I posted a review on the site where I bought my 109, warning potentiel buyers to keep an eye on the updates before spending cash on this NAS.

My thread quickly exploded.. I got the question, if this is also a problem on the 209. I assume it is, but can anyone confirm?

Best regards

In a finished torrent download with 92 .rar files, there was error in three of the .rar files. I deleted the three files an loaded the torrent again. Qnap started to check the torrent and when it reached 100%, it just moved it to "Finish List" !

The three deleted files was now created again - but with 0 byte length. Just created, not downloaded - I expected it would download the missing files, before moving to "Finish List".

QNAP: We need your attention on this, for a lot of us is BT download the most important application.

EDIT: Same tthing happened on another errored download - the missing file was not downloaded, just created with 0 byte length, and the torrent was moved to the "Finish List"!

Hi Ivan

I appreciate all your efforts in solving this - but I'm thinking if it could be a general 'downloading' problem - it seems like others also have problems with http downloads, i.e. md5/hash erros with fw upgrade downloads from Qnap. Please also consider this - you are probably the best guys who can find out of this.

To be honest I don't think that this issue is related to any specific torrents. Just take a torrent of any 4Gb+ file that is RARed into small pieces and you'll probably see the same thing as the writers in this thread. I'm not too keen on sharing my torrents since they are account based and the tracker specifically states that they must not be shared.

I experience the same problem when download from HTTP and FTP with Qget.
But when downloading to my PC direct works fine.
