Schedule power up and power down

Post by Twinsen »

Would be nice to be able to schedule the QNAP powering up and powering down.

I run mine 24 x 7 but there is actually nobody accessing it for the 8 hours while we are sleeping. I leave it on becos I am afraid I forget to turn it on the morning for my wife to access the printer :)

Alternatively, a schedule power off and a wake on lan would be good too :)

Thanks for your suggestions. We'll consider to implement these features to future product. but this feature is base on hardware support, then software can implement this feature.

At least you can halt the system :

Access via ssh and type halt -d xxxx (xxxx = time not sure of unit)

Code: Select all

[~] # halt --help
BusyBox v1.01 (2007.08.30-19:09+0000) multi-call binary

Usage: halt [-d<delay>]

Halt the system.
Options:
        -d delay interval for halting.

[~] #
but then you must remember to switch it back on (wake on lan??)
