I was just thinking I wanted some more monitoring stuff, because right before my 209 was working lots, and I know it wasn't me, but I had no way of finding out who it was.

Depends on what you are looking for?
Who is connected? (netstat in ssh console)
What is running (ps in ssh console)
How much workload is generated by each subsystem? (top in ssh console)..

No, i simply thought of a web status interface of ftp users currently connected, for how long, and downloading what exactly

QNap uses proFtpD for ftp server. It should come with ftpwho command used by
phpftpwho. But Qnap system lacks this binarry. I'll look into matter. But it would be easiest if QNAP just added it with next upgrade of firmware:)

Hi all i think it would be much more comfortable to have this logfile option in the administration menu.

1. who is logged in
2. who tryed to logged in without permission
3. who did what in wich folder

@ madi2000

please can you explain me how to use ssh!?

Depends on what you mean by "use ssh" :)

i'm guesing you are using windows... so you need a client to connect to QNAP ssh server (for example free PuTTy is ok for most tasks...).

[you can use telnet (and it's implemented both in QNAP and (client) in windows.... but it's mosty not adviced coz whole transmision is in plain text ... (security stuff) - but if you use it on your own private lan... why not :)]

you need to connect your client to [NAS] IP and port 22.

you can login as admin / yourpassword...

and here you are :)

what you can do... linux geeks are going to say "sky is the limit" :) [me to :)]

I don't think this is place for shell tutorial. Try to find out something about linux shell commands (ls, mv, cp, mkdir, rm, rmdir for startes just to get used to the idea... [be carefull :) your will be loged as superuser and one rm can kill whole system :))]

like :
ls --help
mv --help

try reading about linux shell more. but i'd advice not to practice on the device if you are not sure what your are doing :|

Dear all,

QNAP will release an enhancement for the Event Logs of TS-109 and TS-209 series. You will be able to find out the records of the users accessing NAS from samba, FTP, HTTP, AFP, telnet, and SHH currently or in the past, the services they are using or used, and the actions they did to the folders, e.g. uploading a folder, renaming or deleting a file.

Please stay tuned for the announcement from QNAP.

This is good news, because it feels like i have no control of it since i can't say who/from which ip-adress people has loggad in.
