Suggestions to QDownload

Post by xilian »

Hi,
I recently brought TS-209 and have a couple of suggestions.

- I would like to specify a subfolder when downloading files.

- Could you add a Torrent folder under QDownload that contain the active torrent files? Also if I put a torrent file in that folder it should start running. Then we don't need to upload the torrent.

- When adding the same torrent from diffrent sites you should get a question wheter to add these sites to the current torrent file or to start a new one.

- Make it possible to stop seeding on a specific ratio.

- Let us move finished downloades files to a selectable location/subfolder.

Hi.

Word!

These are good points and I second all of them.

But there is a better forum for this kind of suggestions. It's called Wanted Features and is located in the General QNAP section of the forums.

Maybe the moderators can move this post there?

Get Ideas..

I think also, it would be good to have the following on the website.

You enter into the Qdownloads through the web ...

In the general window, you can see all your downloads, but you should have the option to filter out, what protocol you are downloading from ( HTTP, FTP. and BITTORRENT )

But I love the auto queuing idea, it would make my life a lot easier.. the file structure could be as follows..

Qdownloads
/ Completed Torrents
/ Queued Torrents ( .torrent file
/ incomplete Torrents ( where the files during download are stored.
/ HTTP Downloads
/FTP Downloads

I do realize that you can change the path to where you want it saved, it would just make sense to expand the options, or let the user create their own file sturucture .. This could be a "Power User" option giving on the Admin page. Basically, Qnap, could just assign alias' to folders, and if changed, the alias could update itself..

Anyways .. I think (or hope) they are working on a "resume" feature for Http / FTP .. if it's supported.

Good ideas. I hope they will be implemented in the next update. :)

i think i have some mor suggestions.
when adding the same HTTP or FTP file from a diffenrent source it should not only be added as mirror but also downloaded from all available sites, not just one. this would speed things up. or a possebility to open up 5 or 10 connections for one file at the same time, like some downloadmanagers do, would also be great.

i don't know if i missed it but there is now "time remaining" shown for HTTP and FTP downloads but for BT it is. i would like to have a cloue when my downloads are finished.

and the last suggestion. i think all downloads should be downloaded to a temporary folder and be moved to the selected one when they are finished. this way i wouldn't have to check if the file i am seeing in my folder is finished downloading or not.

I'd also like to change the seed ratio. So I can stop seeding at a ratio instead of at a given time.

Would be great in a software update.
