I have raised a similar issue with Qnap support but not heard anything back since the 21st September. Below are two examples of the diagnostic information on the download. As you can see the Percentage is bigger than 100% and the download totals are larger than the size.

Dump Diagnostic Information:

Size: 350.5 MB
Percent: 100.1 %
Download Totals: 350.9 MB
Upload Total: ---
Share Time: ---
Start Time: Wed Sep 19 19:28:08 2007
No Error!

Size: 28.5 MB
Percent: 101.6 %
Download Totals: 29.0 MB
Upload Total: ---
Share Time: ---
Start Time: Fri Sep 21 13:00:57 2007
No Error!

Not tested with the beta 1.1.2 firmware.

I'd like to quote myself from this thread where I posted it a bit off-topic:
I too seem to have this problem (with the old firmware and the beta one). Some http downloads are broken some are not (it usually downloads a bit more than it should -> 102% finished). This also seems to be an issue when I log in via SSH and download the file with wget.
Any update would be appreciated.
Thanks

Followup to my previous post...

This still seems to be an issue even with the new firmware (although it wasn't mentioned in the release notes, it could have been fixed)...

3 of 4 files donwloaded just fine, one was messed up (it said 100.8 % in the error log). Why isn't this reproducible? So strange...

i have exatly the same problem.
every HTTP or FTP download is corrupted. e.g.:

teh manual from the QNAP website:
M_TS-109_V1-1-0_DEU_2007-07-05.zip
1st try: 5.132KB
2nd try: 5.148KB
3rd try: 5.139KB
4th try: 5.118KB
5th try: 5.145KB

none of the files could be opened.
torrent files seem to work correctly.

what can we do to fix this?

i tried to download the manual from qnap again.
according to ps, the download is called like this:

wget -T 30 -t 3 -c --no-cache -P /share/Qdownload/ --limit-rate=0 http://w3.ieiworld.com/QNAPFiles/downlo ... -07-05.zip

when i let it finish, the file is currupted. if i paste exactly this line into a ssh session then the file is downloaded correctly.

so why is wget working correctly from a ssh shell but not from DownloadStation or QGet?

i would say this is a serious bug! it makes the DownloadStation completely useless.

ok i found out that the downloadStation just doesn't finish the download. it simply kills wget before it is done.
i found this out by letting qget download the manual again, and of cours it was currupt. then i entered the wget command from my last post in a ssh shell and wget picked up on that download and finished it. now the file could be opened.

so it seens that the download station is moving files to the done-list before they are actualy done.

come on qnap there has got to be a way to fix this, please!!!

ok i found a little workaround. (which doesn't seem to work everytime)
when downloading a file with qget you just have to let it finish. then remove it from the finish list and keep the file. then you have to download the same file again, this will resume the first download and finish it. it will show more than 100% but once the second download is finished (takes just a couple seconds) the file is alright.

thanks QNAPIvan. could you please inform us when this issue is solved.

Same here. Nearly every download (http/ftp) is corrupt. :?
Hope you can fix this quickly...

Marphy

P.S.: Just start some records at onlinetvrecorder.com and try to download them via mirror and TS-109. All will work fine, but after encoding, the Media Player refuses playing.

  • Files saved with Notepad that are reopened after a while are not complete anymore: click!
  • Corrupt downloads (http/ftp) with download manager: click!
  • HDD without access wakes up every 10min when a network PC is on.
Current satisfaction: annoyed.

hi

i tried firmware 1.1.3 beta. the download of small files is working now, but lage files are still not finished. i tried a 340MB file and about 2MB were missing. again, starting the same download with wget via SSH finished it correcty.
another strange thing appeares now. when downloading a file the percentage jumps to 99.0% when it reaches a value greater than 99.0% and stays there for a while. suddenly 100% appears and the download is done.
from what i can see so far the percentage of the download is somehow calculated or determined wrong (the percentage shown is higher than the actual). it seems that 99% are recognized and a wait time has been added to finish the download. but if the filesize is too big or the download too slow then it is still finished too early (it seems like wget is killed before it is done). so far this fix is not satisfying. the determination of the right percentage should be the way to go, not adding some waittimes. why not checking if wget is still running, cause that would mean that the download is not done yet, or at least DO NOT KILL WGET, it will shut down itselve once it is done.

now i am waiting for you next attempt of fixing this.
let me know if i can help

I do not understand why a so wide-spreaded but simple problem needs that a long time to be solved... :( Althrogh QNAP seems to be very commited to have pleased customers, bug-fixing lasts too long I think.
