You are in the 3rd step.
Go to the Event Log section to check which hard disk is failed.
Follow the steps to swap to a new one.
The NAS system will auto-rebuild the RAID again.

Cheers,

I see the TWO hd status is ready.=>Is this show the hd physical healthy?

If one hd is really fault,
should I take one of the hd to repair.

Can you go to the main administration page, and select the "Event Log" to check the hdd status?

Cheers,

I like to measure the ability of raid 1 and hot swap, so I draw one hd in off line mode
->switch on system
->find problem and fear to loss data
->switch off system
->plug back one hd
-> result Image
->try to fix the problem by lucky, draw TWO hd at same time
->switch on
->switch off
->plug in back the two hd
->switch on
->Bad Blocks Scan for TWO hd and completed.
->two hd seem healthy
->this is current status
Image
.
I want mount the hd without loss the data, what is the next step? :(

Same Problem

Post by praetorian »

Hello,

I have the exact same Problem! I just Purchased the Nas ts-209 pro.

I have two 500 gb drives installed, configured and raid 1 established...shortly after it was in de-graded mode... I removed a 420 gb of data (not fun!) and then rebuilt the RAID1...it went through unmout, format, resync...and then was fine for minutes...only too say in de-graded mode minutes later...I then Tried JBOD and linear which formated and established fine then...RAID1 again...AND STILL Degraded mode...The drives are new and must be fine....So what is the deal!??? Any suggestions....I've been emailed By Fan Chen at qnap who sent me this link http://www.qnap.com/images/products/App ... 9AP09.html but did not help... here are my logs for the most part are below...

I really do appreciate the help....

Well i'm not one to wait too long for help to come...So I've removed my drives from the ts-209 pro, placed them on main server and removed all the qnap formated partitions. I then place my ts-209 pro in default setting by reset and the reinstalled the drives. Oddly there is a differnce in the size and space avail. of the drives and raid.

Why is it resynching after it was only just created ...is it because after the discovery and config. with firmware upgrade and restart it needs to resynch???

The lower one is still resynching but neither had data so why the difference---Odd don't you think.

Would there be any benefit in adding a page in the firmware for advanced users to delete partitons at will right from the unit to slick the drives rather than telnet or drive removal...

I have exactly the same issue, also using 2 samsung 500GB (SAMSUNG HD501LJ CR10) in a TS-209 with RAID1.

when I create the raid, it immediately has problems and makes an audible "clunking" noise when checking the drives. After clunking a few times, the raid enters "degraded mode".

remember, these samsung drives are not officially supported in the hardware compatibility list. Is there any solution or should I have bought different drives?

It seems that something went wrong during my initial run through the installation wizard. I took both HDD out of the NAS, removed all partitions, put them back in the NAS, install wizard appeared when QNAP Finder was run except this time everything went as expected. Now my 209 is running fine in RAID1 - although there was a lengthy RAID resync immediately after install. The hdd spin down and enter standby just as they should.

So it seems SAMSUNG HD501LJ CR10 do work, just as some others have also reported.

had to return my ts-209 pro and newegg say that almost all of the one they had in have come back "defective"...Don't stand still...Run...and return you nas of you have a problem....and don't take no for an answer....

I got a readynas instead....Flawless out of the box...No as many features....however you can a 40 in 1 product , but if it doesn't work what's the point of all the features.

Hurry...
