That's what I'm looking for!

I also would like an integrated mail server and setup menus inside of the QNAP. The manual installation is too complicated for me (I am not good with command line tools

Re: Mail server smtp/pop3
I'm currently looking to replace an old server with a NAS. A mail server is pretty much the only thing lacking for the x09.
I would really like to see an smtp/pop3 mail server...

Re: Mail server smtp/pop3
well yes, there is gmail as well as a number of other internet based mailservers providing ample free resources such as yahoo or even hotmail. But it's not as s e x y as having your own.. I too am a big fan of a built-in mailserver and having my own private email domain, also seems a little safer I suppose
I hear squirrelmail works well on the NSLU2 as in has a small footprint and ample features. Of course 'hacking' the box is a lot of fun but for dodo noobs like myself that's just a whole lot time which won't go unnoticed by the little woman. Maybe those diamonds weren't such a bad idea in this case
