Printer access rights

Post by gweis »

Hi QNAP,
I connected my printer (HP Deskjet 970cxi) to the TS-109 following the procedure from QNAPRei on top of this forum. I use WinXP and have to do it as Administrator, everthing seems working well. But when I switch to my regular user (not an Administrator) I cannot print.

I discover that I have to connect to the NAS IP address first using a valid user&pwd, then the printer works. A login to "QNAP" (the name of my NAS) is not enough, I must also do it on the IP address. For this I enter "\\192.168.254.10" in the address bar of the explorer and I get asked for a user&pwd. Then the printer works.

My question: where can I set the access rights for the printer? Is it possible to remove all access restrictions from the printer?

PS: the printer install procedure documented in the TS-109 user guide is quite different from that described here. Which one to prefer?

timeslot, thx for your help.
I try this, but it doesn't solve my problem.
I cannot print without prior login to the NAS ip-address.
