USB copy so slow - everything via the network
The USB "copy" function / button seems to be so slow. I estimate about 30 MBs instead of 480Mbs. The file is put in the Qusb folder. To move it where you want it, it needs to be copied over the network! This doesnt make sense to me.
If you attach an eSATA (oe USB) drive at the back, again, you dont get 3GB/s, you are transferring the files via the network (in my case 100mbs).
I must be missing something. Getting files onto the server is slow and managing / moving them is even slower.
I see there is mention of a "move" function in the web file manager. This seems to be desperately needed.
Am I missing something? Thanks.

Sorry.
TS109Pro
1.1.0
WindowsXP
English
3 in computer, 1 in Ts109
Seagate Enterprise
750Mb
Raid N/A
Download Station, DDNS,FTP,Twonky
USB Printer attached
100Mbs
I attached a Buffalo 8gb USB flash drive and pressed copy button. It took more than 1 hour to copy 5Gb's. I then had to move the files into the appropriate folders and that was all done via the network - completely defeating the point of connecting to the TS109 directly.
Even if the copy button was fast, to put the files into the correct folders is up and back down the network. Without the ability to move files on the NAS there is no point attaching USB or SATA drives as everything is then sent via the network. The copy button seems to transfer data very slowly.
Thanks

QNAPRei, leaving details didnt seem to make a difference as far as a response is concerned. Just a quota reply?
I am still trying to move / copy large files on the server. I can't understand how moving and copying (within the QNAP) is only via the network.
FlashFXP looked promising but loses connection with the QNAP.
Here is the log, trying to transfer a 5GB file between the USB drive and the QNAP HD.

Hi MarkRy,
Sorry to get back to you late. We're working on this issue. Please allow some more time for us to find a solution. We'll be releasing a hotfix firmware which supports WinSCP. You may give a try then. Stay tuned.

Thanks for the update.
I had 3 issues with the 109Pro.
1) Error listing directory / Unexpected directory listing using WinSCP - No change with firmware 1.1.2
2) Time out trying to ftp transfer (between USB drive and Qmultimedia) with FlashFXP - No change with new firmware
3) Cannot export from media player to QNAP (export starts but stops after 10Kb) - no change with new firmware.
Unfortunately I still have the same problems.
Thank you.

Hi MarkRy,
Andy
With this prob you had I got the feedback from our engineer once again and saying they have no problem using WinSCP. In order to clarify the issue I tried to install WinSCP myself yesterday and it did work plus we received no reports from other users indicating the same issue. Would you please check again on every steps when re-installing it and let us know if you make it or not, thanks.1) Error listing directory / Unexpected directory listing using WinSCP - No change with firmware 1.1.2
The latest beta firmware does not detail this prob in the change log and so it of cuz has no change if you do the update.2) Time out trying to ftp transfer (between USB drive and Qmultimedia) with FlashFXP - No change with new firmware
I think me and our engineer have discussed this issue with you quite some time ago and here we'd like to let you know that we have been testing our product against many other players currently available and most of them play fine without any probs. This player you got (iplayer if i can remember) we havne't get a chance to get one on hand due to our policy for purchasing third party device for compatibility testing. It might have been its number of potential users worldwide or their willingness to work with us for compatibility testing. Therefore I won't say 'No' but 'Maybe' we will get one and contact the vendor for possible compatibility testing against our products in the near future.3) Cannot export from media player to QNAP (export starts but stops after 10Kb) - no change with new firmware.
Andy

Thanks QnapAndy
1) Jogi100 seems to have the same problem here:
http://forum.qnap.com/phpbb2/viewtopic. ... sc&start=0
It is discussed here:
http://winscp.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t ... 7b820c93d5
I will reinstall it too. EDIT - reinstalled 4.04 and 4.03 - no change - same error. Note: It appears to be directories with .avi / wmv / mpg files. Folders with music or photos open without error. Hope that helps.
2) OK, sorry I thought ftp was improved. I will wait for update (unless WinSCP works first). Why do you think it is timing out?
3) Jowi in his post of Sun Sep 30, 2007 7:21 has the same problem.
http://forum.qnap.com/phpbb2/viewtopic.php?p=2097#2097
This is the new firmware and I am sure he does not have the same player - so it is not an isolated problem.
Thanks
