I am trying to connect a printer to the QNAP server.
When I connect a HP laserjet 1020 I get :
Manufacturer: Unknown(23)
Model:
Status: Ready
When I connect a Canon i9100 I get:
Manufacturer: Canon
Model i9100
Status: Ready
The problem is that in both cases no printer icon appears on the root page and therefore there is no printer to connect to.
No printer icon

Hi Fairgren,
These two models are not in our supported printer list. However, you may try to follow the instructions in this post and see if it works for you.[/url]

Hi,
My system WindowsXP sp2
Printer HP laserjet 1020
TS-109 pro
I have managed to make a connection using your advise and now have an icon in my Printers and Faxes window which shows that it is sharing and Ready.
When I try to print a test page with the Document Que window open the test page document appears, says it is printing and then clears but the printer does not print.
If I then connect the printer directly to another PC it prints that PCs' document immediately.

I had the same experience but solved it by giving one more try (maybe two?) Sometimes there could be communication loss over the network when transferring printing jobs to the printer. Very often it's not related to the NAS or the printer. Maybe you can try again?
By direct connection to PC, the printer should work, or you'll have to talk to the manufacturer
